Progress Reports: Upscale Transformation continues at Colonie Center

A number of multimillion-dollar, landscape-altering projects have been proposed in the area in the past few years. Some are under construction; others continue to wend their way through the approval process. We'll follow their progress in CQ and add to the list any new eye-popping commercial, industrial and residential projects.

Colonie Center (UPDATE) Location: Wolf Road and Central Avenue, Colonie Description: Upscale transformation and expansion by Feldman Mall Properties Inc. of one of the region's largest shopping centers, with new stores, restaurants and a movie theater. The interior is changing, too, with padded furniture, flat-screen TVs, a play center and a working fireplace. Proposed: Feldman first outlined its intentions for the mall in December 2004, shortly before closing on its $84.2 million purchase of the shopping center. Overall cost: $70 million The latest: Construction of new third floor for the movie theater and a new Wolf Road "face'' is under way. P.F. Chang's China Bistro, L.L. Bean, Barnes & Noble, Sephora and Regal Cinemas are expected to open in the fall.
