Hollister Co. store to open at mall

By Dawn Cobb

Hollister Co., which features casual California clothing for the high school and college market, is opening today at Golden Triangle Mall.

The 7,260-square-foot store is one of almost 400 Hollister locations across the country.

The Denton store, which will open in part of the former Old Navy location, will employ about 75 people.

The retailer is a wholly owned subsidiary of Abercrombie & Fitch Management Co., which also has 360 Abercrombie & Fitch stores, 175 Abercrombie stores and 14 RUEHL stores.

The corporate owner, based in New Albany, Ohio, recently announced a 15 percent increase in net sales over December 2005 net sales for the most recent holiday season.

Year-to-date, the company reported a net sales increase of 18 percent to $3.066 billion from $2.6 billion last year, according to a news release.

The Hollister location is the first major new store under the mall’s new ownership, Feldman Mall Properties Inc.

The Feldman company bought the property at Interstate 35E and Loop 288 in June 2006 from Simon Property Group Inc. and has since proposed up to $50 million in renovations, including an IMAX theater, food court and more.

“We’re excited that Hollister is getting ready to open,” said Matt Ludemann, manager of the Denton mall. “I’m sure they’ll do well here in this market.”
