This weekend, Parisian signs come down and Belk signs go up. And early next year, Dillard's will leave.
Tallahassee Mall managers sound positive even as the mall faces major changes.
"I think Belk does bring something different to the table," said mall general manager Steven Darby. "They are putting more money into the facility to add more services."
"If (Parisian and Belk) are going to become one, I'm OK with it," said Tallahasseean Debbie Campbell. "Hopefully it's an expansion of offerings."
Campbell, a marketing representative who has lived in Tallahassee for 11 years, said she thinks residents will be curious and check out the repackaged store.
As for Dillard's, Darby said mall owner Feldman Mall Properties is looking to fill the 203,660-square-foot vacancy as soon as possible, but there is no timetable for a replacement.
Dennis Hayes, said a change in mall scenery is a good thing.
"This gives people an opportunity to afford what they want the most since it's going out of business," said Hayes, a 19-year-old from Washington D.C. "People will always come to the mall, curious about sales."
Belk bought 38 Parisian locations last year for $285 million and will rebrand the stores by mid-September. One of America's largest privately held department stores, Belk has more then 400 locations and $90 million in annual revenue, records show.
Tallahassee's Parisian will not close during the rebranding. Grand opening is set for Sept. 12, store manager David Schultz said.
