TCOLONIE - Larry Feldman won't name names, other than to say it's "one of the strongest retailers in the country."
But during a conference call Wednesday morning, Feldman, chief executive of Feldman Mall Properties Inc., said he soon would announce a lease with the retailer to open at Colonie Center.
His company, a real estate investment trust based in Great Neck, Long Island, is in the midst of remodeling and expanding the Wolf Road mall.
The unidentified retailer would be new to the Capital Region, said Thomas Wirth, Feldman Mall Properties' chief financial officer. It will join L.L. Bean, P.F. Chang's China Bistro, Barnes & Noble and Regal Cinemas as new tenants at the mall.
Meanwhile, construction work continues on Colonie Center's expansion.
The new L.L. Bean store is set to open Sept. 14, said Linda Dockal, the mall's marketing manager. That will be followed by P.F. Chang's, opening in October, and the 14-screen Regal Cinemas Inc. theater and a new Barnes & Noble bookstore in November.
The unidentified new tenant won't be a big-box anchor, Larry Feldman said late Wednesday. He expects to announce the new store before the upcoming spring convention of the International Council of Shopping Centers, which begins Sunday in Las Vegas.
