COLONIE - The official opening day of Colonie Center's new Regal movie theater will be May 1, company officials said.

The 13-screen, 2,800-seat theater is part of an $85 million mall renovation and expansion project that included adding a third floor to accommodate the theater. The work has changed the look of the building, both inside and out, attracting a number of new tenants.

The new theater includes fancy tiles and light fixtures and an all-digital projection and sound system.

"Everything is on track," said Larry Feldman, chairman of Feldman Mall Properties Inc., which is part owner of the mall. The theater was originally supposed to open last December.
